EBCF is a not for profit company limited by guarantee established in 1992 to address poverty and disadvantage within East Birmingham. The organisation grew from strength to strength and is now operating within the West Midlands. In particular Birmingham and Stoke on Trent with plans for further growth throughout the region.



Our Mission Statement

·         To strive for the relief of poverty, unemployment, low level of communication skills and isolation experienced by people living within the West Midlands.

·         To advance job creation, job retention and economic regeneration through the promotion of economic activity, local enterprise and business activities, and in particular to promote and facilitate the establishment of community and co-operative enterprises; and to encourage employers to recruit from within the area.

·         To promote and establish projects and facilities for the advancement of good health, independent living, family values and good parenting and for the provision of leisure and recreational activities.

·         To provide educational, training, advisory, counselling, administrative, professional and technological support for the furtherance of the objectives of the company.

 Our Core Business

·         JET Shop centres in Birmingham and Stoke on Trent offering jobs, enterprise and training related services.

·         Learndirect offering skills for life, Train to Gain and NVQ’s in Advice & Guidance, Childcare, Customer services, Health & Social Care, Road Passenger Vehicle Driving, ITQ’s and much more.

·         Big Lottery Funded Reaching Communities Fund to offer Information, Advice and Guidance support

·         Home Office funded Life in the UK Test Centre (nationwide)

·         UK Border Agency funded European Refugee project to support beneficiaries to access employment and learning opportunities

·         Welcome Project funded by the European Integration Fund offering citizenship support including ESOL and UK familiarisation programmes.

·         UK Online Centre to offer local proletariat access to ICT’s

·         DCSF funded Parenting Fund project to provide support to BME parents and children.

·         Next Step advice and guidance on learning, work and life throughout the West Midlands via our community based venues and outreach.

·         Nursery provision based at the Summerfield Centre Ladywood ward Birmingham. 

·         Community Resource Centre at Crown Building based in the Ladywood constituency delivering local services including learndirect, Next Step, European, Central and local government funded projects.

·         OFSTED registered alternative provision school offering education to secondary school children that are or at risk of exclusion from mainstream education.

Quality Marks, Accreditations and Qualifications

The company has following quality marks and accreditations:

·         Matrix quality standards for information, advice and guidance services
·         Investors in People quality mark holder since 2003
·         OCR to deliver NVQ’s and Level 1 and 2 in Literacy & Numeracy
·         BCS (British Computer Society) to deliver ECDL and ITQ
·         OISC certified to provide immigration advice and guidance
·         Cambridge ESOL to deliver ESOL qualifications
·         Accredited UK Online Centres.

 Resources

The company has following resources that can be utilised to deliver services: -

 

·         Seven EBCF Centres located within West Midlands in areas of extreme poverty and disadvantage.

·         Women & Children Only Learning Centre with three computer suites, play area and crèche 

·         NVQ Level 4 and 3 qualified Advice and Guidance personnel, A1 Assessors and Trainers in various vocational areas etc.

·         Ten IT computer suites with latest software and hardware.

·         Summerfield Centre based in Ladywood offering six classrooms, large hall, basketball court, kitchen with eating area and onsite nursery.

·         Athletic Club with onsite learning provision.

·         17 Seat Mini bus.
